Following implementation of the Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 on 28 September 2004, the Council has commenced the review of the Wokingham District Local Plan (WDLP) to cover the period beyond 2006. This is involving the collection of evidence to inform the review. Following the Executive meeting, this Local Development Scheme was submitted to the Secretary of State and came into effect on 1 September 2009. The Local Development Scheme is available on the website.

The Council submitted its Core Strategy to the Secretary of State on 20 August 2008 with consultation on the document until 1 October 2008. Following an Examination from 17 March to 30 April 2009, the Council received the Inspector's Report into the Core Strategy on 27 October and published it on 6 November 2009.
